Hemophilia Association Lunch on the Lawn March 2009

The boys and I went to the State Captiol to discuss the needs of the Hemophilia community with our state Legislators. We personally invited Jack Harper and John Nelson from the State Senate, and they both attended.
This is us talking with Rich Murphy, from the State House of Representatives (who has hemophilia), and Senator John Nelson. My mother-in-law also came to support, and other hemophilia community memebers.

After the Hemophilia Association fed us all lunch on the Senate lawn, we went to the House and Senate floors to be introduced. In all, I talked with 6 legislators from the state. Most of them new little about the bleeding disorder, insurance issues, etc.

Magilla and Popernickel took the photos at the Capitol museum, etc. Photography was not allowed on the Senate and House floors. Do you seee a familiar name on this memorial?

The next day we had a home school lesson on the three branches of government - and what role the legislative branch plays in making laws for us, and how our elected officials should listen to the needs of their constituents during the process. Of course the necessity to vote for individuals who would be morally motivated and service oriented was also discussed!
The visit also helped Popernickel pass off a Cub Scout requirement - 3 birds with one stone :)
