Garden Progress April 2009

Chili pepper plant.

Here is our yellow pear tomato vine, also left over from our fall garden. There are some cherry tomato plants underneath - and the grass that we can't keep out of the flower bed!

I've decided that our lemon tree is destined to be a minature. It barely survived the winter, and has always stayed green...but it refuses to grow!

We only had 2 nectaries last year, and this year there are a lot more - but they are small. We'll see what happens the next time it blossoms.

Our plum tree had multiple blossoms, but no plums yet. It still may be early??

After a fall garden catastrophe, we finally see some progress with our spring planting. Here are some watermelon, cantelope, pumpkin and cucumber coming up in the front, spinach and carrots in the back.

Some beans.

We tried planting some fruit trees from seed again. We have 2 peaches coming up and one apple. It took 3 months of watering before they sprouted - but I think the others are duds.

These peas are left over from our fall garden. They stayed green all winter but did not grow. This spring they shot up - but not a flower in sight. Just as it started to flour and grow peas, it started to dry out and die. We are still learning!
