Cantemelon 2009

My mom brought over some green mysteries from her garden the other day. Some looked like watermelons, and some looked like this. She thought maybe it was an unripe pumpkin. However, when we cut it open we were pleasantly surprised!

Sweet, juicy Catntemelon anyone?
It was the best tasting cantelope with a hint of watermelon. It was so juicy and sweet we savored every bite! Who would have guessed such a treat could be hidden behind such an intimidating shell? We are still learning about cross-pollenation!

This was the first watermelon from our garden. Yum!
Zucchini anyone? My family loves zucchini bread, so with the harvest my mom shared from her garden we made loaves and muffins. I used spelt flour so that I could enjoy some too. Wheat tears up my insides, but the spelt flour only gives me a sore and itchy throat. Worth the consequences when it comes to zucchini bread!
