Broken Arm Dec 2009

There is never a dull moment when you have two very active boys around! Magilla and Popernickel were riding thier bikes in the empty dirt lots behind our house when Magilla decided to jump over a 4 ft. retaining wall - hoping to land on both wheels and ride away.
After his first tire hit, he flipped over his handlebars, slid on his head, wrecked his knee and then his left arm. Yep, he was not wearing a helmet...and EVERY doctor and nurse at the hospital gave him grief about it - especially because he has HEMOPHILIA!
But doesn he own 3 of them??? Yes!
This top picture is of his knee, and the bleed that is starting to form in and around his joint even though we infused him with his factor as soon as we got to the ER.

Surprisingly not much damage on his head, and a clear CT scan - we were very blessed!

And finally, his broken left arm (radius fracture).
They had to put him out completely so they could reset the bone - yikes!
So a temporary wheelchair for the knee bleed, a cast for the arm, and a new helmet rule!

Twice a day infusions for 4 days at the hospital - thank goodness for IV's!
And then once a day infusions for two weeks. He was a trooper!

Magilla was so thankful to all of the nurses and techs that helped him that he made a poster for the floor he was on. He tore pieces of the Christmas adds from Grandma's newspapers, designed his art, and then glued them all together.
We delivered it at one of his follow-up appointments. So cute!

Wow, ouch! Pictures make it look very painful! How's it going with the book?
