Utah Adventure Feb 2010

So I discovered that if I crochet while driving - I do not get sick! So I made several scarves and this super cute hat. Popernickel got so cold on the trip that he wanted to wear this hat (even though it was "girlie") because it kept his ears warm! We found the most awesome yarn store in Kanab Utah - "The Cozy Ewe".
So we started our adventure in Fredonia Arizona with Shooter's sister. She works at Canyon Book and Supply in Kanab Utah - so voila! My first book signing!

Shooter had fun taking pictures of me and my books...

(So now that you see the cover next to my face, do you still think
the picture on the front looks like me?)

Here it is displayed for sale in the store.

She put up posters at both high schools, libraries, and in front of the store.
She was so awesome!!

Thank you to Canyon Book and Supply and to
Shooter's sister :)

While there, I spoke in my Brother-in-law's Sophmore English class about the writing and publishing process. A little rusty, for my first impromptu public speaking event. But next I headed over to Kanab and spoke to thier Senior English class - and that went a little smoother!
Next we headed to Lehi and to Shooter's brother's house. They are makeing awesome renovations to their house and were kind enough to let us sleep in thier master bedroom. It was very nice!! The next day we left the boys and headed to Ogden for my best Tenessee friend's wedding in the Ogden Temple. Then we headed back down to Lehi, picked up the boys, and continued South to Provo for the reception.

She looked amazing in her cute dress! Before we got to the reception it started snowing. It was all we could do to keep the boys from playing in the snow - because they had to be able to wear those same church clothes to church the next day! They were thrilled to see snow!!

After the reception we drove down to Payson to Shooter's other brother's house. We stayed the night, went to church the next morning - and then the boys could play in the SNOW!
The first thing Magillacuttie did was make a snow angel.

Popernickel and his cousins started making a snowman.

They realized pretty quick that it was important to stay warm!

The 3 younger boys and I made a snowman (complete with pirate hat and all) while Magilla set out to make a snow man taller than himself (the cone in the background). It was quite a challenge to keep convincing the younger boys that it would not be
fun to knock down his project!

Almost there...

and it's complete!
We left the next morning, but backtracked up to Springville to stop at my publisher, Cedar Fort, to meet some faces behind all the e-mails.
Here I am with my editor, Heidi Doxey, in the Cedar Fort warehouse next to my books.

My book was on display in their reception/lobby area.

And then we had a beautiful drive home! This shot is from inside the car. I tried to get the snowflakes coming at us - but you can't see them.

These are all from the side of the road.

When we were behind truckers, thier wheels would spray the salt water from the road on our windshield - and our AZ wipers could not keep up - so every once in a while we'd stop and throw fresh snow on it to help wash the streaks off. The boys thought this was fun!!
And then, at 3 in the morning, Home Sweet Home :)
